Compellent Case Study

Compellent is a provider of enterprise-class network storage solutions that are scalable, feature rich and designed to be easy to use and cost effective.

At AsiaFootPrint we first saw Compellent with a joint sale to the PGA Tout with Virtual Iron. Intrigued by Compellent’s fantastic data progression software we signed on in January 2010 with this already public company (CML on NYSE) to assist with acceleration of the business in the Asia Pacific and Japan region.

Compellent was acquired by Dell in December 2010 for $960m.

Stephen and Craig were asked to join Dell as full time employees to assist with the integration and the hiring of a first class sales team. We visited HQ in Round Rock TX multiple times and met with Dell’s founder and CEO Michael Dell for this very strategic and important acquisition. With great results across the region and a successful team in place the integration was done with the business thriving in 2012.

Akorri Case Study

Akorri, Inc. provides cross-domain performance management software for the virtualized data center. The company’s products include BalancePoint, an agent-less management software, which is used by information technology operations and infrastructure managers, system/storage administrators, and application owners. Its BalancePoint offers a Cross-Domain Analysis technology that collects information from servers, storage, and infrastructure software, as well as automatically correlates application performance across these domains. The company’s BalancePoint also offers Application Fingerprinting technology, which profiles and characterizes application workloads, as well as and models how applications use various infrastructure resources in time; and Performance Dynamics Modeling technology that gives warning to potential application performance problems before they happen. It offers professional, assessment, and training services.

Akorri, Inc. was founded in 2005 and was based in Littleton, Massachusetts. Acquired by Netapp in January 2011 for cash. Its solutions are used for capacity management, virtual infrastructure management, and development and testing.

With many successful Virtual Iron installations in US,EMEA and Asia Virtual Iron was acquired by Orcale in May 2009. This was an IP acquisition and AsiaFootPrint completed its agreement inline with the legal entity close. Oracle has its own machine virtualization offering known as OVM.

Trigence Case Study

AppZero software virtualizes Windows and UNIX server applications for rapid provisioning of services across a network, on any server, in the datacenter or in the cloud. AppZero pioneered the Virtual Application Appliance (VAA), which encapsulates an application with all of its dependencies – but without any operating system (OS) component. The result is server applications that are 100% portable leaving zero footprint with fast, near native performance. For enterprises and ISVs interested in the potential of pay-as-you-go-computing, AppZero provides a smooth on-ramp to the cloud, with low cost management and no cloud lock-in. AppZero makes it technically easy and economical to exploit cloud computing.

Founded in 2004 and still privately held Trigence rebranded to AppZero and has a successful worldwide customer base.
